My 3 best rides at Magic Kingdom

Carousel of Progress is one of the best rides at Magic Kingdom

Good Morrow, it’s that day of the week again where we share the next instalment of the Thursday three series. We have come to the last Disney park in my three top attractions countdown for Disney and Universal. We’ve saved the best for last with my best rides at Magic Kingdom, but before we get to that, be sure to check out the rest of the parks I’ve covered – Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.

Magic Kingdom and the Universal parks are incredibly hard for me to narrow down to my three best rides, so this is where the hard work began and I actually had to give it some serious thought.

So let’s get on with this week’s park, the crown jewel of Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom

I could literally talk about Magic Kingdom for days and I intend to after our upcoming trip (27 days for those keeping count) but this is the Thursday Three and it’s supposed to be quick and punchy, so I’ll just get straight to the rides.

My 3 best rides at Magic Kingdom

#1 Big Thunder Mountain

I’m a coaster junkie so it’s no surprise that a coaster is at the top of my list. When I was about 10 or 11 my parents took me and my sisters to Disneyland Paris and Thunder Mountain was the ride that stuck out in my mind years later. Side note: my mum’s mascara ruining down her face as we exited the ride is also a clear memory! So, I was really looking forward to getting on this version. Our first ride was in the dark at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. It was raining and foggy, the castle was lit up beautifully, the ride was slick and fast and the theming is very cool. It’s the perfect coaster for Magic Kingdom in my opinion.

#2 Pirates of the Caribbean

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party

I think Pirates was the straw that broke the camel’s back with my Disney obsession because this ride turned my world upside and I was hooked. It’s an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. The actual pirate ship scene prompted me to just whisper ‘WOW’, although this actually happened on a few rides at Disney & Universal. The redhead is obviously no more but I’m excited to see the changes. The bit with the woman chasing the pirate around had me in stiches every time as did the guys trying to get the dog to give them the key – the whole ride is a work of art.

#3 Carousel of Progress

I really struggled with this one because I adore Haunted Mansion but I’ve got to be true to myself and in all honesty Carousel of Progress gave me more feels . As I’ve said before, I didn’t get the whole Disney thing until I entered Magic Kingdom last year and it hit me like an acme anvil. So with my limited knowledge, this was a ride I’d never heard of but was blown away by. It’s just special and I think knowing Walt took it to the world’s fair just makes it more magical.

So that’s my three best rides at Magic Kingdom,  join me next week when I hop down the road to Islands of Adventure.

I’m very interested to hear your three best rides at Magic Kingdom so hit me up in the comments or on Twitter and let me know.

Until next time, keep smiling,
