Good morrow! It’s Thursday and that means it’s time for another Thursday Three and the last of my top three rides ‘mini-series’. That’s right, my countdown of the best rides in Universal Studios Orlando and the Walt Disney World parks has sadly come to an end, but fear not, we will share a lot more countdowns on here in the future so make sure you stay tuned for them.
It’s time to enter my absolute favourite park, Universal Studios Orlando.
I absolutely adore this park like you wouldn’t believe. Literally 20 seconds after we walked through the gate, a member of staff noticed I was wearing my Batman top – DC over Marvel any day, bro. It was just a plain tee with the classic Michael Keaton-era logo. He approached me and said:
“Oh my God, are you Batman?”
I replied: “yes, why else would I be wearing this shirt?”
We chatted for a few minutes and he told me that Gotham needed me and I should leave to get back. I was like, “Chill, Robin’s got that under control.”
It was such a little interaction but it totally made my day and I fell instantly in love with the place.
Anyway, enough of that – let’s get to the list. This one might surprise so of you, including Charlotte.
My three best rides in Universal Studios Orlando
1. Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
The only thing that stops this being my number one ride in the world is the fact that the screens are more obvious than they are on Forbidden Journey (one of my best rides in Islands of Adventure) – and that’s just nit-picking if I’m honest.
This ride has one of the best queues in the world in my opinion – again, only beaten by the beauty hidden in Hogwarts at IOA.
The Falling scene after the run-in with the lovable scamp known as ‘he who shall not be named’ is one the best feelings I’ve ever had on a ride – it’s just unbelievable. There is one thing Gringotts beats Forbidden Journey on though, and that’s the lockers! Don’t get me wrong, the ones at Gringotts suck too, just not as much as the hell-pit you find awaiting your journey in the castle!
2. Revenge of the Mummy
I spoke in detail about this ride in my Universal Orlando hits and misses so I won’t ramble on too much. This ride is just totally amazing with so many shocks along the way. Plus, Brendan Fraser is the man! I’m hoping by the time we get there, some shmuck will have finally gotten him his bloody coffee!
3. The Simpsons Ride
Ahhhh, how I wish I could ride Back to the Future: The Ride, but unless you have a real-life DeLoreon that happens to be a time machine, it’s not going to happen.
That said, I love its replacement. The Simpsons is one my favourite cartoons on earth and in my opinion, it deserves a ride. Some people don’t like this, and that’s fair enough, but I love it and well, it’s my list so there.
The pre-show is absolutely hilarious too. Something else that’s hilarious is Charlotte, whilst a bit tipsy at HHN, nearly getting us kicked out of the park by trying to take a drink into the preshow building. She claims she didn’t realise drinks weren’t allowed but I’m not sure I believe her.
So there you have it, my three best rides in Universal Studios Orlando.
Let us know your top three rides in this park, and I’ll explain why mine is the correct top three 😉
Until next time,keep Smiling,
