5 New Things to Try at Universal Orlando

Horror Nights houses one of our new things to try at Universal Orlando

Ah, we’re finally here. Just a mere seven days until we venture to the airport, I bring you the last in my new things to try series. Last week we visited Animal Kingdom, and today we’re journeying to the other side of International Drive to visit Universal Orlando Resort.

I’ve decided to wrap both parks into one, as we covered a lot here during our seven-day stay last year. From food to Fallon, here are five new things to try at Universal Orlando.

#1 Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour

This is a place I was DYING to try last year, and we ended up never getting to. Not this time, though, as I’m determined to get my hands on a Florean ice cream. The flavours I’m most excited to try? Sticky toffee pudding and pistachio – yummy!

This is probably going to be one of the first places we head to when we walk through the wall to Diagon Alley.

#2 Voodoo Doughnuts

There isn’t many new food places I’m more excited to try on this holiday than Voodoo Doughnuts in City Walk. From what I’ve seen of this place, it looks next level and I love how pretty the doughnuts are.

The one I’m the most excited about is the Bacon Maple Bar because I’m basically obsessed with the sweet and salty combination of bacon and maple syrup. We’re thinking one of these will be a great pre-Halloween Horror Nights treat!

#3 Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon

Another thing we never got round to doing last time – despite visiting Universal Studios almost every day for seven days – is Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon. I guess we just didn’t think this would be one of our best rides at Universal Studios, so we missed it altogether.

I know it isn’t set to be an out-of-body experience, but I still think we need to tick it off the list. We’ll also make sure we get a ride on Fast and Furious Supercharged, although Fallon pips it to the post because of it’s wonderful-looking queue.

#4 Tales of Beedle and the Bard

More Potter, #SorryNotSorry.

The Tales of Beedle and the Bard is one of my favourite scenes from the Deathly Hallows and I can’t wait to watch the show in Diagon Alley. We managed to catch the one about the Triwizard Tournament last year and it was pretty good, so I’m betting this one is even better.

I’ve no idea when it’s on, so I need to remember to pick up a park map with the showtimes when we arrive at Universal Studios.

#5 Horror Night’s Houses

I’ve saved the best until last this week! I’ve talked before about how much we loved Halloween Horror nights, but didn’t brave venturing into any of the houses because we were big old scaredy cats.

Well my friends, this year we’re heading back AND we’re braving the houses. I think that now we’re familiar with the HHN set-up, we’ll be ok to venture into a house or two. Don’t get me wrong, we won’t be hitting all ten, but we will be giving a good 3–4 a go.

The ones I’m looking forward to most are Stranger Things, Scary Tales, Carnival Graveyard, Slaughter Sinema and Trick ‘r Treat.

We’re also super excited for the scare zones, apart from the clown one which Carl is terrified of!

So that’s it, my five new things to try at Universal Orlando. What do you think of my list? Do you agree?

So sad that we wont see HHN this year but we have plans for a return trip next year so will hopefully see it then. Defo want to do Race Through New York and try Voodoo Doughnuts. So exciting for you, not long now 🙂
